This is what they are about:

We’re a group of 15 lads who are cycling the 1,000 miles or so from Land’s End to John o’Groats in ten days, Friday 16th to Sunday 25th August 2013. We’re undertaking this challenge to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust who have provided fantastic support for our friend, Ben Murphy, during his recent ongoing battle with cancer. Our target is to raise in excess of £25,000

This is the story on Ben:

Ben is a 24 year old from Newborough, Staffordshire who works for Healthcare at Home as a Nurse Scheduler. A BA (Hons) Geography graduate from Plymouth University, he’s been actively involved in sports such as football and rugby from a young age. Ben was diagnosed with bone cancer in his left knee in the summer of 2012. Four months of chemotherapy was unsuccessful in managing to decrease the size of the tumour, and despite the original plan to receive a knee replacement, Ben had to have his leg amputated from the middle of his femur instead. Ben is still receiving chemotherapy treatment and his current course is due to finish on Friday 19th April 2013. He may have to have a further, less intrusive course of chemotherapy after that along with an operation on his lungs.

Despite the obvious difficulties that he has faced, Ben has an admirably positive outlook on life. A very popular person, he has a very supportive family and large group of close friends firmly behind him that has undoubtedly helped. He is keen to raise awareness for the charity that have done so much for him, and he has done so by doing a radio and newspaper interview telling his story, rather than shying away from things as people without his strength might do. This has helped to promote exceptional fund raising efforts that two members of our group have made to raise money by running this year’s London Marathon, and hopefully our own fundraising efforts with this cycling challenge.
